Your Opportunity
The Printing Technology & Color Management Expert is Cartamundi’s global expert in offset and digital printing for the manufacturing of playing cards, board games, trading cards, and premium collectibles. This role is essential in defining our global print standards, driving innovation, and ensuring consistent, high-fidelity color reproduction across all production sites and supplier networks.
This role collaborates closely with local manufacturing sites, global engineering, and R&D to evaluate new technologies, optimize processes, and maintain our position as a leader in print quality and product excellence.
This role requires global travel up to 60%, supporting technology deployments, trials, vendor audits, and cross-site process alignment.
How You Will Contribute
1. Technology Scouting & Innovation
· Continuously monitor global developments in offset, digital, specialty, and security printing relevant to gaming and collectible products.
· Identify, evaluate, and recommend new equipment, materials, coatings, inks, and finishing technologies that enhance quality, efficiency, or sustainability.
· Lead trials, benchmarking, and validation of new technologies in collaboration with R&D and site engineering teams.
· Build business cases for technology adoption, including performance metrics, cost impact, and scalability.
2. Global Printing and Color Management Leadership
· Define and maintain company-wide printing and color management standards for all technologies in the company and all product categories (playing cards, board game components, packaging, collectibles).
· Develop and maintain ICC profiles, calibration routines, and process control systems for both offset and digital workflows.
· Ensure consistent color reproduction across multiple sites, substrates, and print technologies.
· Troubleshoot complex color issues and guide teams through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
3. Print Process Standardization
· Establish and maintain global print specifications, tolerances, and SOPs aligned with industry standards (ISO 12647, Fogra, G7) and tailored to the unique requirements of our products.
· Define quality benchmarks for critical attributes such as color accuracy, registration, coating uniformity, surface finish, card opacity, and durability.
· Support local sites in implementing standardized workflows, measurement systems, and quality control tools.
· Lead capability assessments and continuous improvement initiatives across global production.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Partner with R&D on new product development to ensure print feasibility, material compatibility, and color consistency from prototype to mass production.
· Work with global engineering to specify equipment requirements, evaluate vendor proposals, and support installation and commissioning of new print technologies.
· Support local manufacturing sites with technical expertise, training, and troubleshooting.
· Collaborate with supply chain and vendor management teams to evaluate and qualify external print partners and printing technologies.
5. Supplier & Production Partner Management
· Conduct technical audits internally and at print vendors to ensure compliance with company standards.
· Provide guidance during press approvals, color matching sessions, and production ramp-ups.
· Establish long-term partnerships with key suppliers and technology providers.
Who You Are
· Extensive hands-on experience in offset and digital printing, ideally within playing cards, board games, trading cards, or related high-precision print manufacturing.
· Deep expertise in global color management, ICC profiling, calibration, and process control.
· Strong understanding of print-related material science (paper, coatings, varnishes, laminates, specialty finishes).
· Familiarity with security printing, anti-counterfeit features, or collectible-grade print requirements is a plus.
· Proven ability to evaluate and implement new technologies across multiple sites.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, data-driven approach.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
· Experience working in a global, multi-site manufacturing environment.
